Fic Year in Review

bookishwenchUnlike last year's somewhat nutty total of 87, this was a more "normal" 22. It's about average or a little above since I started writing fic more than two decades ago. So here's what I did in 2023:

A Squeak in Time - Loki series - Mobius and Loki, running from the TVA, somehow wind up in a storage locker on Midgard.

Silflay with a God - Watership Down and MCU - Loki's delight in tricksters was not limited to humans.
July
Turnabout Is Fair Play - MCU - Loki and Tony are sent on an undercover mission to an inhospitable planet. I was angry at the Supreme Court, hence.
Half-Sick of Shadows - "The Lady of Shalott" and MCU - Loki stumbles upon a fair maiden in a tower not far from Camelot. It's an old tale, one he has seen many times before, but this girl's tapestries pique his curiosity, and he becomes her silent, unseen observer.
August
Benevolet Control - MCU - Odin has brought his young sons Thor and Loki to meet with the Eternals on Midgard. Loki finds one of them particularly interesting, and the seeds of their conversation will stay in his mind for centuries.
A Fool's Errand, Chapter 1/6 - MCU - Loki has just celebrated his coming of age, and Odin will soon send him on a diplomatic quest to another realm. However, since a relationship with his beloved Sif is on the horizon, he has no desire to leave Asgard, at least not until Thor accidentally gives him a second purpose for his visit.

Muggle Fairy Tales Are Mad: The O(h Give Me a Break!)wl - Harry Potter - Based on Andersen's weird story.
Caught in Love's Web - Harry Potter - Hagrid does some impromptu matchmaking for his friend. Granted, his friend is a horrifying, gigantic, homicidal spider, but like the old saying goes, there's someone for everyone.
Family Is Home - MCU - Loki decides to visit New Asgard quietly, but someone he definitely wasn't expecting finds him.

I've Seen a Thing or Two - MCU - In the middle of an alien invasion attacking New York, a giant green thing falls out of the sky. And one guy was really, really calm about the whole thing. Why?
Unforgotten - MCU - The universe has forgotten the name Peter Parker, but Loki is not in the universe. And he really doesn't like amateur magic.
Owls Well That Ends Well - Harry Potter and Labyrinth - Sarah's husband challenges her to remain in animal form as their first bet. Of course he chooses the form of a white owl. And of course, things don't quite go to plan when she winds up in Eeylops Owl Emporium.
A Perfect Pair - Loki series and Duolingo - Miss Minutes has been reprogrammed, but because everyone is still terrified of her, she's getting bored and lonely. Until she meets the owl of her dreams.

Dream Interpretation - Loki has been courting Anthony ever since the day the prince's feelings (along with everything else) for him were exposed while they were swimming together in the woods. Now they've returned to the same spot, and Anthony asks him to interpret the vivid dreams he's been having.
Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder - Ladyhawke - Imperius has made an error in his calculations, forcing Isabeau and Navarre to wait longer for the curse to be broken. Phillipe tries his best to act as a bridge between the lovers, leading to unexpected results.
Lucky Emeralds - MCU - Sif, a talented student from Wisconsin attending Yale on a full scholarship, is the only female student in the architecture department, which makes her life difficult. Her roommates are supportive of her, especially Natasha, who arranges a Christmas present for her: a makeover from the very cute, sort of Goth guy on the third floor. 1990s college AU
I had a pretty big dead spot from February to May and then a smaller one in June. Fewer different fandoms as well. I think I forgot to post the MFTAM chapter about "Zeus and the Tortoise," or I didn't tag it.
On AO3, I finally broke up the multi-part fic "Worlds of Chaos" into separate fics, then grouped them as a series. Consequently, "Apprentices of Chaos," the first one, looks like it had over 5100 hits all by itself. That was the original total for 14 chapters, which have some pretty small totals now (ranging from "Course Correction" (Dollhouse xover) with 21 to "One Treasure Lost, Another Found (LotR xover) with 134). I originally titled the 14 chapters just by where they were located (Haggard's Castle, Sunnydale, Elsinore, etc.), but they have actual names now. Then I made "More Than One Way to Die" a stand alone fic since it didn't really fit in the series anymore (384 hits, which surprises me).
I enjoyed writing this year, so that's good.
