Saw Thor. Greatly enjoyed Thor.

As I said, I both saw and really enjoyed Thor. Granted, in part this is because I'm a massive nerd who loved D'Aulaire's Norse Myths book at about 9, so I was kinda thrilled at the whole concept of seeing Asgard and Midgard and Joltenheim and the like.
Also, to whomever thought up casting Anthony Hopkins as Odin? You're a genius. He's the perfect al-father. And Rene Russo as Frigga was a good stroke too, though I actually thought she was Julie Christy at first (who Branagh would know, obviously).
And that last aside I think clear it on up: this was Kenneth freakin' Branagh's Thor. It was pretty well paced, managed not to go straight for stupid while dealing with interdimensional aliens, had a cute aside mentioning Tony Stark, and oh, by the way, Thor is hot. Did I mention Thor was hot? Yes, yes that's worth mentioning several times. Holy cow, Thor is hot.
And then there's Loki.
I really shouldn't like Loki so darn much, should I. They pointedly didn't mention his name for, like, forever, and I'm thinking, "That's Loki. That's Loki! Oooh, hey, he tricked that guy, he is so totally Loki. He is completely motivating Thor to do exactly what he's saying he shouldn't do on purpose. Just say it already, you're Loki!... FINALLY! Confirmation!"
Of course, I think I read one Thor comic once maybe 25 years ago, so I have no idea if that matches with the movie's plot, and there were obvious differences from mythology (Odin was Loki's blood-brother, and he knew all about that, although he and Thor were pals most of the time, and wasn't Sif married to Thor? and wasn't bearded big guy whose name I never caught actually a lot closer to the mythological version of Thor?), but seriously? It was fun.
And according to IMDB, Thor and Loki will soon be playing with Joss (along with Captain American and Iron Man... seriously, it's like action figures coming to life).
Also, my mother saw this as well. She was, like, giddy. She adored it. She wants to go back again next week to see it in 3-D.

I liked the way the rainbow bridge lit up every time someone stepped on it. And the Gatekeeper was definitely one of my favorite characters. The soundtrack was great, too. Obviously some parts were a bit hokey, but I was SO FREAKING HAPPY when Thor got his hammer back.
