Hope is out there for humanity
Jun. 23rd, 2012 07:52 pmI want to share a happy thing that actually happened today. My mom, one of my aunts, and I went to a art show/craft fair thing today. We got along great, Mom thought about something other than the idea that her job is going to be pulled out from under her on Tuesday, and we each bought something just for the fun of it.
My aunt was the last person to find something she really liked. There was a woman selling handmade purses, really beautiful ones, and my aunt was torn between one that was purple and one that was sort of a champagne color. The woman who made them said she really liked the purple one for her, but why not get both? My aunt couldn't afford both, so she stared for a while at the two of them, then picked the purple one.
She went up to pay for it, and the artist discreetly slipped around to my mother and put the champagne purse in my mom's bag, telling her not to let my aunt know until later, but she was giving her the purse for free. She'd had hard times in the past and was doing a lot better now, and when she sees someone really loves her work, she does what she can to give people a smile. This was a $60 purse. We were both stunned, as was my aunt when she found out about it in the car.
(The artist did mention, when my mom hugged her and said "bless you," that her friend's daughter is extremely ill, at death's door. The young girl's name is Adrianna. If anyone would care to pray/send good thoughts towards this girl, that would be appreciated.)
Occasionally there are just some amazingly decent people in the world.
