Okay, so just for my own notes:

Much of this chapter handles the first Quidditch match, and while some readers did eventually start to find the game a bit of a drag, the first match is indeed fun. Dean's comments do read exactly like a play-by-play, which is a clever way of making the game very realistic and keep a fast pace going. The pov here is odd. A lot of it is limited omniscient centered on Harry, which is typical for most of the book, but then the sections in the stands with Hagrid, Ron, and Hermione switch entirely to objective point of view, then objective but focused on Hermione as she sets fire to Snape's robes. It's a little disconcerting, but I'm not sure how else Rowling could have done it.

Let's repeat that last little bit, though: Hermione sets a teacher ON FIRE. That's the first time I've seen Hermione do something that's kind of outright scary, and it won't be the last. It's interesting that she goes from completely denying that Snape would ever do anything to harm someone to immediately training her binoculars on him and deciding he's the culprit (incorrectly; but also accidentally saving Harry by knocking over Quirrel). What changed her mind? Ron's assertion that there was something wrong? The wound? And why did Snape take his injured leg to Filch of all people rather than Pomfrey, who could probably have fixed it in a second or two rather than walking around limping for weeks? I'm guessing he didn't want the faculty to know he'd had a run in with Fluffy, but is Filch really someone who would keep that quiet? Odd, that. Are the two of them friendly?

I also messed up in a previous note in stating that Voldemort was the one who gave Hagrid Fluffy; that was Norbert's egg, obviously.
