Hello Yuletide writer,
Hi! As you might be able to tell from my sign up, I'm a bit shy with sexually graphic material. I would prefer no underage sex in any of the fandoms, please, and no really graphic violence.
I would be thrilled to receive a fic in any of the fandoms I requested. I love all of them, and most of the original works are fairly brief this time.
To some extent, this is my year of "things I read or saw and was left with questions" requests.
-The Mysteries of Harris Burdick - Chris Van Allsburg - Apparently, even Stephen King has drawn inspiration from this weird little collection of drawings. All of them are intriguing to me, so seriously, pick any one or more of these and go to town.
-The Lottery - Shirley Jackson - I've read this, seen it as a play, and taught it a few times, and I'm ceaselessly amazed by how many levels this has, how much Jackson plays with symbolism and mythology and ancient customs and humanity's dark side. I mentioned Summers and Warner specifically since they're such strange characters, Summer connected to the timing of the sacrifice and Warner acting as a warning not to do away with it, but who (or what) are they? Davy Hutchinson, the little kid who "stones" his mother with pebbles, might have thoughts one day on all this, or maybe he wouldn't. Your call.
-November Rain (video) - Guns 'n' Roses - I was actually never a big fan of the band, but dang, that video really does stick with the viewer, doesn't it? I remember people trying to figure out what happened and why for months after it came out, then thinking it would all get resolved in the "sequels," except it completely didn't. So, what's going on here? What's your take? Revenge? Insurance scam? Natural causes? Something happened when the cake fell over? I honestly have no idea.
Again, thank you for whatever you choose to create, and I really look forward to seeing what that will be!
Meltha
