Weird Headcanons for Loki

These are just some of the headcanons I've sort of adopted for Loki. I may add to this.
1. He likes animals, particularly ones that are intelligent or considered odd in some way. It's something he has in common with his snake-loving brother. The Allspeak works on animals as well.
2. He and Sif were childhood friends who bonded over their outsider status. Eventually, she managed to get accepted, and he didn't, which prompted him to purposely sabotage their relationship.
3. He was terrified of Frost Giants as a child and had nightmares about them.
4. Asgard canonically has only fruit and nuts for desserts, and one of the few things that completely blew his mind about Midgard was the sweets.
5. He has an enormous library he keeps in a pocket dimension.
6. The strength of his magic is effected by his emotional state.
7. This might be actual cannon from Thor, but he can travel inter-dimensionally through mirrors or any other reflective surface.
8. In a mix of canon and headcanon, his magic includes the ability to conceal himself, take on various shapes, teleport within a limited distance, produce access to several pocket dimensions, speak with a few ghosts (I'm hitting Norse myth on that one), and possibly some low-level healing abilities for others (Asgardian injuries seem to heal very quickly regardless, so I'll assume Jotun ones do as well). He can also clone himself, obviously.
9. If he assumes his Jotun form, he's taller than he is as an Asgardian, but still small for a Frost Giant. Everything is either too big or too small for him in that form, so he hates it.
10. He prefers to spend the majority of his time as a male. He may have occasionally assumed a female form around his mother, but in general he's seen enough of what life is like for women that he feels too physically vulnerable in that form.
11. His sense of humor is sometimes genuinely funny, sometimes outright cruel, in part because he's usually not very empathetic.
12. He pretends to care a lot less than he actually does.
13. He is easily the best diplomat in the family, and his time as king on Asgard was actually fairly successful.
14. At some point when Frigga was teaching him magic, she also taught him to dance, possibly in his female form. He credits this for a lot of his skill in fighting.
15. He has an affinity for plants.
16. He's not overly fond of the Warriors Three, in part because he sees them as replacing him with Sif. In addition, he thinks Volstagg is an idiot, Fandral is a ridiculous flirt (they may have had a brief relationship at some point), and he doesn't really know what to make of Hogan. All three of them wildly underestimate him.
17. He was labeled a troublemaker and possibly a liar when he was basically a child due to the fact he had a bad habit of loudly and publicly correcting his tutors when they were wrong. He was almost always correct, but it made him highly unpopular.
18. He's had relationships with men and women, both as a man and a woman, but not as many as he implies. He is very good at using others' feelings against them for his own benefit.
19. He can't grow a beard. Thor's friends tend to make fun of him for this. At one point his nickname was Loki Bald-Chin.
20. People tend to forget Loki is also the god of fire. He is especially good with spells that use it, and he may be able to control lava.
21. He does own clothing that isn't black or green.
22. He doesn't become attached to most mortals because they don't live very long and his father has raised him to think they're inferior, but once in a while one will amuse him or otherwise catch his eye. That doesn't always end well for anyone.
23. He's a good cook, thanks to his potion brewing.
24. He has a huge problem with both envy (wanting what others have) and jealousy (thinking others are going to take what he has).

Date: 2022-06-09 03:09 pm (UTC)Loki's a bad boy with a British accent who wears a lot of leather, has a soft spot for his mother, and lives for centuries without aging. No idea at all where my interest in him came from. ::wink::
